| I dont understand some of these Christian principles? Er, I guess principles would be the correct term. Anyway, for 2 years I was a hardcore atheist. Recently, in the past 6 or so months Ive been trying to convert myself into Christianity but my atheism still lingers. I question a lot of Christian beliefs, they simply dont make sense to me. So please give detailed answers on the following: - Are we all related to eachother? If Adam and Eve is true, that means their guyren had to reproduce with eachother to repopulate. That means the guys would come out handicapped in some way, because of the minuscule gene pool. If thats not the case, how did so many races develop from a single family? Asians, Hispanics... - If Adam and Eve were the first people, how do you explain cavemen..? Modern humans (Homo-sapiens) have been on earth for at least 200,000 years. Most historians agree that Adam was born around 4000 BC. - If God loves us, why is there so many terrible things in the world? Yes, I understand the fact that He gave us free will. But, if you truly unconditionally love someone, I dont think you'd turn around and let such atrocious things happen throughout history. - Read this... If a man lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall be put to death; they have committed perversion; their blood is upon them. He was unable to explain what that meant, however. So what exactly does it mean to blaspheme? - The Ten Commandments. Hypothetically, lets say you murdered someone. You pray for forgiveness, and sincerely mean it. You turn around, and kill someone again. Pray again. Wouldnt this still permit yourself into heaven? This makes it nearly where anyone can get into heaven... except, - You have to love the Holy Spirit with ALL of your heart. I don't see how this is humanly feasible. Christians, you cant turn around tell me that you dont have a single shadow of a doubt in your mind whatsoever. You cant see God, for one. And, I know that I personally when I pray I sometimes think, 'well, what if He doesnt listen?' Do you just push that thought out of your head? If you love someone/something with all of your heart and soul, I dont think you can doubt them. But as humans, we all have our doubts. I know I do... | Before I try to answer any of these... Know that the answers are out there and if you truly are looking for answers - you will get them!!! Ask the One who holds them. I do all the time! Never failed. Yes we are related. Even if it wasn't from Adam and Eve we are the result of reproduction of first humans. The earlier the times the closer the relationship, but somehow we made it. I'm sure Science has/will have an exception about minuscule gene pool. And I'm sure Gerontology will answer the race question as well. I don't see why Adam and Eve could not have been cavemen? And since science always disproves current "facts" with new "facts", either those who calculated the age of Earth are off or most historians are off about Adam's birthday. Terrible things are in the world because man chose them to be there. The story goes back to Adam and Eve. Remember it was pure harmony in Eden but man chose to go left. Also remember that God is righteous, only acceptable punishment for sin is death. That what is acceptable to balance it. And since man chose evil, God let man have evil. God will is for your eternal spirit to be with Him, since its the only thing that lives forever, not the body. So the struggles of the flesh are simply because we inherited what Adam allowed for evil to do. And He does love His creation, because instead of "death for sin" He sent His Son, who is holy and pure and because He was innocent but died, our FAITH in Him and what He did allows us to be with God again. Amazing wouldn't you agree? God didn't change His mind, but His plan was fulfilled with Jesus. Remember it all has been set up by Him from the very beginning. There are no mistakes, errors, or glitches. Old Testament lived by LAW not by FAITH... Faith does not mean we don't go by the law, but more, faith "strengthens" the law, faith puts us "above" the law. If you remember a story where people wanted to stone the prostitute in the New Testament and Jesus said: "He who is without sin, first throw the stone". Not to judge, but to love! That's what God did through Jesus and that's what we are taught to do if we decide to follow Jesus. Blasphemy is simply when you know of the Holy Spirit and then later deny His work, His existence, His guidance. The Bible says that those who knew and then rejected cannot be saved. You deny God after you got to know God. It's like you've felt or spiritually witnessed God's presence and then you say He does not exist. It says that anything against Jesus will be forgiven or against the Father, but not the Holy Spirit. Only God can see if your prayer is sincere, we cannot and its even not up to us to decide or validate the prayer. When I'm in doubt - I think about Him, all I can do is to ask Him to show me, I seek Him! I read as well, I don't just push the thought, but I seek answers. Only true desire will unlock doors and answer questions. It works, I can say for myself. Never give up! Read Romans, it really opened my eyes on sin and salvation questions.
